DETROIT, MI – The driver of a vehicle that struck and killed an 83-year-old man on Detroit’s west side on Wednesday afternoon has turned herself in to Detroit Police.
The suspect was taken into custody at the Detroit Police Departments 8th pct. and was transported to the Detroit Detention Center without incident.
On Wednesday April 14th, 2020, at approximately 3:10 p.m., in the 15900 block of Evergreen Rd, an 83-year-old man was unloading groceries from his car in his driveway when the female suspect, traveling north on Evergreen in a Dodge Journey, lost control of her vehicle and collided into the victim’s Buick Century. The 83-year-old man was also stuck by her vehicle all while his wife watched the incident unfold.
The driver along with her male passenger then fled the scene in the Dodge Journey by driving away in her vehicle but then abandoned it at Evergreen and Puritan. They were then picked up by a driver of a dark color Chevy Trailblazer. That vehicle then fled east on Grand River.
