GAYLORD, MI – Detectives from Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement (S.A.N.E.) received information on two suspects selling heroin and cocaine in Emmet County.
SANE conducted surveillance on the suspect’s vehicle and on Wednesday night, April 15th, 2020, had the vehicle stopped on I-75 north bound just south of Gaylord.
The suspects were returning to Northern Michigan after picking up drugs in Southeast Michigan. Officers searched the vehicle and found heroin and cocaine hidden in the vehicle. The below listed suspect was arrested and lodged at the Otsego County Jail. Further arrests are anticipated.
Jacob Rex Engle, 36 years of age, a Levering resident, was arrested for one count Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin (20 years/$25,000); one count Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (20 years/$25,000); and one count Violation of Executive Order 2020-21 (COVID-19) (90 days/$1,000 civil/$500 criminal).
SANE was assisted by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police Gaylord Post canine handler and Michigan State Police 7th District Hometown Security Team canine handler.
