DETROIT, MI – On Saturday April 18th, 2020, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the witness and victim, a 28-year old woman were sitting in their 2007 red Dodge Caliber on Joy Rd near Schaefer Hwy when the witness allegedly noticed a min-van traveling behind him at a high rate of speed.
After he and the victim exited their vehicle, the driver of the mini-van collided into their vehicle, and at some point injured the victim. The suspect continued driving and failed to stop.
Officers and medics responded to render assistance. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Investigators also responded and launched an investigation. During their investigation, they were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle, a gray Mercury Monterey, in the 9600 block of Abington. The suspect, a 30-year old man, was located in the 19400 block of Marx Street.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition, then transported to the Detroit Detention Center for processing.
