DETROIT, MI – A 32-year-old Garden City man has been charged in the murder of a 59-year-old Detroit woman in 2017.
Lawrence Paul Mills, III, 32-years-old, of Garden City, has been charged in connection with the 2017 death of a 59-year-old Detroit woman.
On December 13th, 2017, at 2:15 a.m., Detroit Police and medics were dispatched to Anthon and Campbell Streets. When they arrived they found the victim’s lifeless body lying between the street and the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined that she died from multiple injuries.
The investigation of the case by the Detroit Police Department spanned over several years leading to the arrest of Lawrence Mills on April 24th, 2020. It is alleged that he deliberately hit and killed the victim with his car.
She was discovered just before 4 a.m. on that Wednesday morning in southwest Detroit. Police did not know who she was or how she died. Investigators thought she may have been dumped there. A fanny pack and wallet were found less than a block away from the body.
Further details of the case will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination.
Lawrence Mills has been charged with First Degree Murder. He was arraigned today in 34th District Court and remanded to jail. His Probable Cause Conference and his Preliminary Examination information will be updated when it is received.
