Man in Wheelchair near Joy Rd and Dexter becomes Victim of Fatal Hit and Run

DETROIT, MI – A man who was in a wheel chair near Joy Road and Dexter became the victim of a fatal hit and run late Sunday evening.

At about 9:40pm on May 10th, 2020, Detroit Police were dispatched to Joy Road and Dexter where they found a 57-year-old man who was in his wheelchair in the crosswalk on Joy Rd. While in the crosswalk he was struck by and unknown vehicle. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of midnight Detroit Police were waiting on the arrival of the medial examiners office to take custody of the victims body.

Through the investigation, it was determined that a black in color Cadillac Escalade may be the vehicle that was involved.
