HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred on Butternut Drive, near Shadybrook Drive in Holland Township.
The crash occurred on Monday May 11th, 2020 at 12:55 pm.
The investigation showed that vehicle #1, a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, being driven by a 76-year-old man from Leroy Michigan, was entering onto Butternut Drive from a private driveway, on the east side of the roadway, when he collided with vehicle a 2015 Ford pick-up truck, being driven by a 47 year old man from Hudsonville. The Hudsonville man was traveling north on Butternut. The 76-year-old man failed to yield the right of way to the pickup truck.
The driver 76-year-old driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan died as a result of his injuries. The female passenger in his vehicle suffered injuries that were not considered to be life threatening. She was transported to Holland Hospital by AMR Ambulance.
The driver of Ford pickup truck suffered minor injuries and declined transport to the hospital.
