DEARBORN, MI – It is not clear why a 37-year-old suspect fired several rounds at another man’s vehicle on Sunday but he has been located, arrested and charged for his crimes.
On Sunday May 10th, 2020, Dearborn Officers responded to the 22000 block of Cleveland Street on a report from several residents of shots being fired. Officers found a resident’s vehicle that had been hit with gunfire multiple times. The 66-year-old victim reported no problems with anyone.
Further investigation led officers to the home of a 37-year-old, Eric Joseph Wilkerson. Evidence was recovered that connected Wilkerson to the shooting.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad stated, “Crimes of this nature destroy people’s sense of safety and security and will not be tolerated in Dearborn. Our officers’ quick response and thorough investigation led to the arrest of a dangerous suspect. We will continue to work hard and hold individuals accountable when their behavior endangers our community.”
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s office charged Wilkerson with Malicious Destruction over $1000, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felony Firearm, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. Wilkerson was arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Hunt of the 19th District Court. A $25,000/10% bond was set with a GPS tether if released. Wilkerson’s next court appearance will be on May 22, 2020.
