Redford Man Charged in Domestic Violence Assault, Carjacking, and Child Kidnapping Case

DETROIT, MI – Diamond Williams, 28-years-old, of Redford, has been charged by Prosecutor Kym Worthy in connection with a domestic assault, carjacking and the kidnapping.

The victims in the case are William’s 27-year-old-girlfriend and her five-year-old daughter, both of Detroit. Williams is not the biological father of the girl.

On March 16th, 2020, at 4:20 p.m., the Michigan State Police (MSP) received a domestic violence call near M-10 southbound and 7 Mile Road in Detroit. When troopers arrived they were met by the 27-year old woman. It is alleged that Williams had a verbal argument with the victim in her car when he pulled the emergency brake forcing her to stop the car with her five-year old child in the rear passenger area of the car. It is further alleged that Williams punched the woman multiple times in the face and pulled her hair out as he chased her away from her car and drove away.

It is alleged that the defendant stole the car and fled from the scene with the child. On the same day MSP troopers were able to locate the defendant and the child as they walked down the street on Strathmoor Street and Grand River Avenue in Detroit.  The defendant was placed under arrest, and the girl was returned unharmed to her mother by MSP.

Williams has been charged with Kidnapping, Carjacking, Resisting and Obstructing the Police and Domestic Violence Assault and Battery.  He is expected to be remotely arraigned tomorrow after 10:00 a.m. in 36th District Court.
