Michigan State Police to Increase Patrols over Memorial Day Weekend

MSP

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – With the Memorial Day weekend approaching and the Upper Peninsula one of two regions in the state selected for a partial re-opening under Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order, local posts are anticipating an increase in traffic this coming weekend.

Troopers across the district are being asked to focus enforcement efforts on speeding violations, aggressive and distracted driving, seat belt use violations, and impaired driving. Troopers will be enforcing the laws while practicing safe social distancing and wearing personal protective equipment when appropriate.

Their goal is to have zero fatal and serious injury crashes in their area this Memorial Day weekend. The public can help them achieve the goal by driving safely, wearing their seat belts, and not driving after consuming alcohol or drugs. They want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe holiday weekend.
