Ingham County Sheriff wants to Locate owner of Kayak [Updated]


UPDATE: The boater has been found safe! The kayak floated away after she came on shore yesterday. Thanks for all who shared.

EAST LANSING, MI – The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate the person who belongs to the kayak that is pictured here.

Earlier yesterday, May 20th, 2020, while monitoring rising flood water levels in the Red Cedar River near the Kalamazoo / 127 area, the Lansing Township Fire Department noticed a kayak that was overturned. East Lansing Fire Department was requested for mutual aid and their water rescue team was able to get to and retrieve the kayak.

Inside the kayak was a cooler and a pair of Crocs. No one was found around the area or walking on shore nearby.
