Eastpointe Felon Arrested in Clarkston with Altered Firearm

CLARKSTON, MI – A 29-year-old man, who was already a convicted felon from Eastpointe, found himself on the wrong side of the law again after he was involved in a vehicle crash in Clarkston.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle crash that occurred on SB Main Street and Waldon Rd. in the City.  The responsible driver was reportedly attempting to leave the scene.

During the crash investigation, Deputies noticed that the driver was very nervous.  Deputies recovered a .25 caliber semiautomatic pistol from the back seat of the vehicle where the driver had been seen reaching.  The firearm was loaded with ammunition and its serial number had been scratched off.  The driver was a convicted felon recently released from the Oakland County Jail for an OWI 3rd conviction and was not to be in possession of a firearm.  The Eastpoionte man was arrested and transported to the substation to speak with a Detective.

The firearm was seized as evidence and placed into property.  The Forensic Science Lab will attempt to identify the owner of the firearm.  The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.  Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
