PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area of W. Huron St. and Dakota St. for a one-car accident on Saturday May 23rd, 2020.
At approximately 10:38 a.m., the complainant witnessed a vehicle leave the roadway and strike a telephone pole on Dakota St. The 43-year-old driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on a black skateboard.
A distinctive description of the driver was provided to Deputies. The registered owner resided less than a 1/4 mile from the scene of the crash.
A Deputy responded to the residence and located the suspect in the front yard and the skateboard leaning on the side of the house. The suspect picked up a car tire as the Deputy approached him. He threatened to hit the Deputies with the tire. The Deputy ordered the suspect to put the tire down, but the suspect refused. He swung the tire toward the Deputy and he then dropped the tire. He then made a fighting stance and closed his fist coming at the Deputy who deployed his Taser. Another Deputy arrived and they were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.
A total of 88 suspected opioid Suboxone pills were found in his car at the scene.
Deputies requested Paramedics from Star EMS respond to the scene. Due to the Taser deployment, the airbag deployment and cuts on his arm as a result of the PIA. Deputies transported the suspect to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for a medical evaluation.
The suspect was cleared for incarceration and transported to the Oakland County Jail after a blood search warrant was sworn to where he was lodged pending the issuance of criminal charges. The suspect has a prior OWI and Resisting Arrest and is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
