DETROIT, MI – Jaden T. Hayden, 20-years-old, of Ypsilanti, MI, has been charged in connection with beating Norman Bledsoe, 75-years-old, of Detroit.
On Friday, May 15th, 2020, at 6:55 p.m., Jaden Hayden was sharing a room with Mr. Bledsoe in a nursing facility located in the 16850 block of Schaefer Highway in Detroit when he set up his cell phone in the room. It is alleged that Hayden severely attacked the defenseless man by repeatedly punching him in the head.
Nursing home staff heard the commotion and rendered assistance to Mr. Bledsoe who was observed with bleeding and injuries to the left and right side of his head. Based upon information from the defendant the staff was led to believe he has fallen from his bed. Mr. Bledsoe was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
It is alleged that Jaden Hayden posted videos on social media after the attack, and that he also, stole Mr. Bledsoe’s credit cards. The videos were brought to the attention of the Ann Arbor Police Department. As a result of their investigation, information provided to the Detroit Police Department resulted in the arrest of Hayden on the afternoon of May 21st.
Defendant Hayden has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Larceny in a Building and two counts of Financial Transaction Device – Steal/Retain Without Consent.
“The alleged actions of this defendant are truly and uniquely disturbing. We must be able to trust our loved ones in specialty care facilities. I truly hope that the facts of this case are one of a kind”, said Prosecutor Worthy.
Hayden’s Probable Cause Hearing is on June 4, 2020, and his Preliminary Examination is on June 11, 2020, in 36th District Court in Detroit. He received a $300,000 cash or surety bond with a GPS t ether if he is released.
