ROMULUS, MI – Diontay Reece McMillon, 31-years-old, of Canton, and Gerald Stefan Nelson, 50-years-old, of Ypsilanti Township, have been charged and arraigned in connection with the fatal shooting of Brian Eugene Davis, 40-years-old, of Romulus.
On May 19th, 2020 at approximately 8:35 p.m., Romulus police officers arrived at a gas station in the 27400 block of Eureka Road near Inkster Road in Romulus. Upon arrival, the officers found the Romulus Fire Department rescue and Taylor rescue teams on the scene. The officers also saw the victim lying in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The medics determined that the victim was deceased and transported his lifeless body from the scene.
It is alleged that Brian Davis was unknown to either suspects. As Davis approached the suspects vehicle, the passenger, Diontay McMillon, pulled a weapon and fired, fatally striking the victim. The driver, Gerald Nelson, drove away from the scene to the area of Ecorse Road and Middlebelt Road, where it is alleged he ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle. Romulus police officers arrested both suspects at the scene.
Diontay McMillon has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony Firearm and Fleeing and Eluding – Third Degree.
Gerald Nelson has been charged with Fleeing and Eluding – Third Degree.
Both defendants were arraigned on May 24, 2020 in 34th District Court in Romulus. The Probable Cause Conferences are scheduled for June 3, 2020 and the Preliminary Examinations are scheduled for June 10, 2020.
