Bad Axe Man Arrested after Stabbing Brothers Goat

BAD AXE, MI – A Bad Axe man was arrested on Sunday May 31st, 2020, after he allegedly stabbed his brothers goat after they had an argument.

At 12:56 p.m., the Huron County Sheriff’s Office responded to a farm in the 8800 block of Helena Rd. in Sherman Twp., which was the scene of an animal cruelty incident.

What responding deputies learned was possibly that an act of revenge had taken place with a goat being the victim. Apparently an earlier argument between brothers resulted in one brother walking off and eventually taking a nearly 9” long knife to his brother’s goat and stabbing it 4 to 6 times in the neck.

The suspect, Eric S. Learman, 34-years-old, of Bad Axe, was arrested by Deputies on a felony charge of animal cruelty. He was lodged in the Huron County Jail yesterday afternoon and was formally charged and arraigned on the felony today. No bond was ordered by the judge and the suspect will remain in jail at this time.

As of last evening, the goat was appearing to recover after being treated.
