MISSAUKEE COUNTY, MI – On Saturday, May 30th, 2020, at approximately 5:57 pm, a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash.
The crash occurred on Stoney Corners Road near Burkett Road in Riverside Twp., Missaukee County. The driver and lone occupant was a 94-year-old man from Lansing, that was identified as Gerald Kincaid.
Mr. Kincaid was traveling westbound on Stoney Corners Road west of Burkett Road in a Ford Fusion passenger car and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck an embankment causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. Missaukee EMS responded and treated Kincaid at the scene. Mr. Kincaid was flown to Munson Hospital in Traverse City, MI by Aero-Med due to his life-threatening injuries. Later that evening Mr. Kincaid died at Munson Hospital because of his injuries.
Mr. Kincaid was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The crash is still under investigation.
The MSP Houghton Lake Post was assisted by the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department and the McBain Fire Department.

Gerald B. Kincaid “Uncle Jerry”
Lansing – Age 94, our loving Brother-in-law and Uncle Jerry passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2020. Born April 5, 1926 in Lansing, MI. Uncle Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WW II and was an active member of the V.F.W. He was a store manager for Baker’s Shoe Stores in Novi, Lansing, and Grand Rapids over 40years before retiring. He worked at Waverly and Red Cedar Golf courses. He loved golfing, going out to eat, and smoking cigars, and most of all spending time with family. Surviving are his very special sister-in-law, Lucille McNamara; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and daughter, Jeannette “Cassie” Kincaid; special nephew, Michael “Mickey” McNamara. Following within social guidelines, visitation is from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 5, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 6, at St. Joseph Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Williams of Trinity Church officiating. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Jerry.
