PORT HURON, MI – A suspect from Pennsylvania is lodged in the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center following a pair of chases.

St. Clair County Central Dispatch advised Sheriff’s Deputies of a chase that was initiated by Chesterfield Township Police on a Silver Nissan Altima with Minnesota plates. The chase was terminated by Chesterfield in the area of eastbound I-94 and Wadhams Road.

Shortly after that, at about 11:45 p.m., a St. Clair County Road Patrol Deputy was westbound on I-94 and observed a vehicle heading eastbound at a high rate of speed. Another road patrol unit waited in the area of Gratiot and Range in case the suspect vehicle exited.

A short time later, the vehicle did exit I-94 at Gratiot and headed eastbound. The Sheriff’s unit activated lights and siren and the vehicle took off, traveling eastbound on Gratiot and onto Military, heading north. The suspect then tried to turn back to the south on Electric where the streets split, was going too fast and crashed into a curb and some signs.

The suspect jumped out of his vehicle and ran south on Military. He was caught shortly after by a Marysville Police Officer and taken into custody.

The suspect did not have any identification with him when he was arrested. It was determined through fingerprints that he is a 21-year-old man from Reading, Pennsylvania, who is believed to have a probation violation warrant for forgery out of Berks County, Pennsylvania. The vehicle he was driving was a rental car.

He is currently lodged at the IDC on fleeing and eluding charges from the Sheriff’s Office. More charges may be coming from Chesterfield Township.
