PONTIAC, MI – A Rochester Hills man was arrested after Oakland County Sheriff Deputies ordered him to end the assault of a woman who he had been friends with since the two were children.
On Thursday June 4th, 2020, at about 1:30 a.m., Oakland County Sheriff Deputies responded to an apartment located in the 400 block of Old Oak Ct., the Oak Square Apartments complex, on the report of a welfare check. The caller heard yelling and fighting coming from an adjacent apartment.
Deputies arrived, heard an active fight going on inside of the apartment, and forcibly entered the apartment. They found a 22-year-old man, of Rochester Hills, who was strangling a naked 23-year-old woman, of Pontiac, from behind. The female appeared to be unconscious.
Deputies ordered the subject to stop strangling the woman but he refused. The officers deployed a taser causing him to release the victim. They were then able to place the suspect in handcuffs.
The woman told officers that the suspect was a friend and that they had grown up together. She stated that he was dropped off at her home. Once he arrived, he began taking multiple narcotics.
When the victim refused the suspects sexual advances, he attacked and strangled her. The victim stated that she passed out during the strangulation. When she woke up, the suspect was sexually assaulting her.
The suspect was transported by Deputies and Star EMS to McLaren Oakland Hospital for Medical Clearance. After receiving medical clearance, he was conveyed to the Oakland County Jail and lodged pending charges. It is expected that he will be charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree along with Resisting and Obstructing Police. Further charges may be added.
The victim was examined by Paramedics and Detectives are continuing the investigation.
