DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department announced on June 1st 2020, that Officer Waldis Johnson, who was shot in 2017, in the line of duty, had died. His funeral services have now been announced.
Police Officer Waldis Johnson, a 16-year veteran with the Detroit Police Department was shot in the head while in the line of duty while answering a domestic call on April 30th, 2017.
After Waldis Johnson was shot, his partner, Detroit Police Officer Darren “Lucky” Weathers, returned fire, killing the suspect, and then dragged Johnson to safety.
Officer Johnson never recovered from his injuries.
