Allegedly on Monday June 15th, 2020, at approximately 2:20am, Macomb County Sheriff deputies were called to the Hub Sports Bistro located on 21 Mile Rd. near Garfield for shots fired.

A man, now identified as Charles Alam, was told to leave the establishment earlier in the evening but then returned and had fired two shots; one at the rear door as a staff member was exiting and a second at a vehicle within the parking lot.

A 21 year old Charles Alam was within the establishment and requested to leave by security. It is reported that he threatened to “shoot up” the building after he was escorted out of the bar by security. A short time later, Alam returned in a red Honda and can be seen on security footage firing one shot from a shot gun at the building’s rear door area.

A female staff member had been exiting the rear door at this time and was pulled back into the bar by staff. A gun shot was heard just as the door was shut and a bullet was located within the door. Neither staff member was injured. Charles Alam drove off and returned minutes later firing a second shot, striking a patron’s silver Cadillac within the lot. The second gun shot was also caught on security footage.

Deputies were able to gather information while on scene that led to a traffic stop of a white Dodge Challenger near 21 Mile and Garfield. The male driver was found to be in possession of a weapon and in violation of concealed carry laws. That driver was taken into custody. He had also been in the Hub Sports Bistro earlier and was able to provide the identity of the suspect male who fired shots a short time earlier.

Deputies traveled to the suspect’s residence and located a spent shell casing outside of the vehicle located at the residence. Deputies were able to make contact with the suspect, Charles Alam and he surrendered peacefully.

A search warrant was executed on the residence and a loaded shot gun was located in the home. The clothing he had been wearing while within the establishment was also located.

Charles Alam was taken into custody and remains lodged at the Macomb County Jail.
