DETROIT, MI – The 22-year-old sister of a 14-year-old boy is charged with his accidental fatal shooting that took place late Tuesday night on the west side of the city.
Chinasia Elliza-Yvonna Williams, 22-years-old, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of her brother Chance Williams, 14-years-old, both of Detroit.
On Tuesday June 16th, 2020, at 11:30 p.m., at a home in the 12800 block of Mettetal, Chinasia Williams was in a room with her brother and some other friends. It is alleged that she had a handgun. She is alleged to have removed the magazine from the weapon, pointed it at her brother and pulled the trigger. There was a bullet left in the chamber that fatally wounded her brother. A nearby neighbor was called to the scene and transported Chance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound.
Chinasia Williams has been charged with: one count each of Involuntary Manslaughter and Manslaughter – Death by a weapon aimed with intent but without malice.
Williams was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 2, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 9, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Roberta Archer in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000 personal bond.
