DETROIT, MI – Detroit Police need your help to track down, locate and help identify a suspect who carjacked a senior citizen on Chalmers Ave.
The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection to a carjacking that occurred on the city’s east side.
On Thursday, June 18th, 2020, at approximately 8 p.m., in the 9900 block of Chalmers, a 70-year old male victim was sitting in his vehicle, a 2018 red Ford EcoSport, in a parking lot when he was approached by a male suspect on foot. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victim get out of the vehicle. When the victim refused, the suspect opened the driver side door and pulled the victim out. The suspect then searched victim’s pockets for the keys, before entering the vehicle and fleeing the scene westbound on Wilshire. No injuries were reported.
Suspect is described as a black male, approximately mid to late 20s, approximately 6’ tall, with short braids, and possible tattoos on the inside of his left arm. Last seen wearing a black shirt, black basketball shorts, black shoes, and carrying a black and gray book bag.
The stolen vehicle is a 2018 red Ford EcoSport with chrome wheels and tinted rear windows.
