66 yr old Motorcyclist Killed after Losing Control of Bike in Gladwin County

HAY TOWNSHIP, MI – On Saturday June 20th, 2020, at approximately 6:55 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police West Branch Post were dispatched to Andy Lane approximately ½ mile south of E Highwood Road for a one vehicle, motorcycle, injury crash. 

While riding a motorcycle, 66-year-old Frankie Lewis of Beaverton was traveling on Andy Lane on a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle. Investigation thus far indicates Lewis lost control of his motorcycle on the dirt roadway. Lewis sustained extensive injuries from the crash.

Life saving measures were attempted by officers on scene, but Lewis succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation, Lewis was not wearing a helmet.

The Michigan State Police was assisted at the scene by the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Gladwin Rural Urban Fire Dept., and EMS.
