Medical Examiner Rules Death as Homicide
DETROIT, MI – The father of Darius Jones Jr had reported to Detroit Police that his mentally ill son had been missing for a week. Sadly the family of the young man found his body inside a vacant house on Detroit’s east side Friday evening at about 8:15 p.m.
Darius Jones Sr. had reported to police that his 19-year-old son had been missing for almost one week. He was last seen at his home in the 18000 block of Westphalia on Sunday June 21st, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m. and had not been seen nor heard from since that time.
The body of Darius Jones Jr. was found on Elmdale, near Connor and Harper. On Friday evening, at approximately 8:15p.m., in the 11800 block of Elmdale, the body of a 19-year-old man was discovered inside of a vacant house wrapped in carpet. Medics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death as a homicide. The suspect is not known at this time.
The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
