Deadly Shooting

DETROIT, MI – On Tuesday, June 30th, 2020, at approximately 10:50 p.m., in the 400 block of E. Jefferson, a 24-year-old man was shot and killed by a female bicyclist near the RenCen. This is believed to be an incident of Road Rage.

The 24-year-old man was driving a 2006 Land Rover when he was involved in an incident with two bicyclists. The victim exited the vehicle and approached the two bicyclists while he was armed reportedly with a knife. One of the bicyclists, a 28-year-old woman and a valid a CPL holder, fired a shot, striking the victim, fatally wounding him.

The woman is said to have believed that she and her partner were in immanent danger. She is claiming self defense. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Wayne County Prosecutors Office to determine if charges will be filed.
