Mother Dies in Possible Road Rage Incident in Southwest Detroit

DETROIT, MI - On Saturday July 4th, 2020, at approximately 12:55 a.m. in the 8300 block of Homer, the victim’s vehicle, a white Dodge Durango, was traveling on Homer St. The victims were coming home from a cookout in Lincoln Park when someone pulled up beside them and started shooting.

As they pulled over, it is alleged that three unknown vehicles past them and someone inside of one of the vehicles began firing shots, striking all five occupants.

Maria Gonzalez, 39-years-old, was fatally wounded. Her husband, Francisco Gonzalez, 40-years-old, is in critical condition. Their 15-year-old son is also listed in critical condition.

Four male victims, ages 40, 15, 12 and 9, were treated for non-fatal injuries.
