PONTIAC, MI – A 16-year-old Pontiac boy is now facing the possibility that he will spend the rest of his life in prison after he allegedly shot and killed 43-year-old Moises Rolon, of Pontiac, on July 17th, 2020.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies on July 17th, 2020, at 7:54 a.m., responded to a report of a shooting on Marquette Street. The 911 caller reported her 43-year-old brother, Moises Rolon, had been shot and was not breathing. 

Deputies arrived on scene and discovered the victim lying face up in the enclosed front porch, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  Next to the victim was a handgun. The victim’s sister was located inside the residence. EMS arrived and provided telemetry to McLaren Oakland Hospital where the attending physician pronounced Moises Rolon deceased. 

Detectives responded along with an Investigator from the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the, OCSO Forensic Science Lab, to assist in the investigation.

Several persons of interest were located on East Rundell Street and a hotel. From the investigation, Ariel Rodriguez-Martinez became a person of interest.

On July 23, 2020, Ariel Rodriguez-Martinez, 16-years-old, of Pontiac was arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Ronda Fowlkes Gross at 50th District Court. 

He was charged with the following:
Ct. 1: Second Degree Murder – Life Felony
Ct. 2: Possession of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony – 2-year Felony
Ct. 3: Discharging a Firearm at an Occupied Dwelling Causing Death – Life Felony
Ct. 4: Possession of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony – 2-year Felony
Ct. 5: Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle Causing Death – Life Felony
Ct. 6: Possession of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony – 2-year Felony

Bond was denied at this time. His next court date is scheduled for August 4, 2020, at 1:30 in front of the Honorable Judge Cynthia Walker. Rodriguez-Martinez will be charged as an adult. He has no prior criminal history.

Rodriguez-Martinez is currently lodged at Oakland County Children’s Village.
