Another Weekend of Gun Violence in the Streets of Detroit

DETROIT, MI – Detroit marked another night of gun violence that is plaguing the streets and neighborhoods. For many it’s a frightening reality. For others, they seemed to have become accustomed to it and try to maintain a low profile so they are not the next target to be shot at.

Detroit Police responded to several incidents where people were injured due to bullets being fired from weapons unlawfully.

On Sunday July 26th, 2020, at approximately 7:15 a.m. a 47-year old woman was seen walking in the area of Appoline and Puritan, suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. She was privately transported to the hospital. She is listed in critical condition.

The suspect(s) are currently unknown and the location of where the shooting incident took place is also not known at this time.

Two people were shot on Sunday, July 26th, 2020, at 3:50a.m. The two victims, a 31-year old woman and a 27-year old man, were allegedly watching a drag racing event in the area of Livernois and Tireman when a fight occurred and shots were fired. As a result, the victims were struck.

Both victims were privately conveyed to the hospital and listed in stable condition.  Unknown suspects at this time. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.

On Sunday July 26th, 2020, at approximately 3:00 am, in the area of Glastonbury and W. 7 Mile, the 28-year old woman was allegedly attending a party when shots were fired and she was struck.  

She was transported to the hospital by medics and is listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.

On Sunday, July 26th, 2020, at approximately 1:40 a.m., in the area of E. McNichols and Conant, a 26-year old woman was with the suspect at the location when he allegedly assaulted her with his weapon then shot her. 

After the shooting, the suspect fled in a blue sedan. She was conveyed by medics to a local hospital and listed in temporary serious condition.

The suspect was described as a black male 20-30 clean face, short hair, wearing blue t-shirt, blue jeans, tattoos on both arms, operating an unknown year 4D Blue Sedan with tinted windows, armed with unknown type handgun. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.

In the final reported incident, on Saturday July 25th, 2020, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a 39-year old man was allegedly walking in the area of I-96 and Hubbell when he heard shots and felt pain.

The victim was privately transported to a hospital and listed stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.

The shooting incidents left a total of 6 people injured in less that 24 hours.
