Houghton Lake Man Charged with Possession of Child Porn

TRAVERSE CITY, MI -  A 29-year-old man from the Houghton Lake area, who was released from prison in January of 2020 on parole, is back behind bars. His previous convictions were drug related. His charges this time are for possessing child porn.

An investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit (CCU), Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has resulted in charges for a Roscommon County man.

David Charles Flamand, 29-years-old, of Houghton Lake, was arraigned today, Tuesday, July 28th, in 82nd District Court and is charged with several criminal counts, including child sexually abusive activity, and using a computer to commit a crime. Flamand was in jail on unrelated charges.  He was released from prison in January 2020 based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections.

David Flamand has previous convictions for the following:

  1. Controlled Substance-Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine
  2. Controlled Substance-Delivery/Manufacture Marijuana
  3. Controlled Substance-Possession of Methamphetamine
  4. Controlled Substance-Possession of Marijuana/Synthetic Equiv

The investigation stemmed from a tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The MSP was assisted by probation and parole officers from the Roscommon County Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) office.
