LAPEER, MI – On Wednesday July 29th, 2020, the Shelby Township Police Department, Macomb County, investigated a hit and run collision involving a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with the registered owner listed on Jefferson Road in North Branch.
Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the vehicle’s registered owner and identified that Eric Jon Torr, 30-years-old, of North Branch, had been driving it.
At 4:34 PM, Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies located the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Eric Torr near the intersection of Silverwood and Clifford Road in Silverwood (Lapeer County’s Rich Township). Deputies attempted to effect a traffic stop which ultimately resulted in a pursuit.
The pursuit traveled east on Clifford Road and south on Van Dyke Road. Speeds reached the 70 MPH range and the pursuit lasted 9 minutes, just under 10 miles. The vehicle did eventually stop near the intersection of M-53 and Montgomery in Marlette. Eric Torr was taken into custody without incident.
On Thursday July 30th, the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office issued formal criminal charges of Fleeing and Eluding Third Degree and Driving While License Suspended. Eric Torr was arraigned in the 71-A District Court of Lapeer. Torr was released from the Lapeer County Jail after posting bond with monitoring equipment. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 7th in the 71-A District Court of Lapeer.
