BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, MI – On August 3rd, 2020, at 10:06am, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Niles Post responded to a possible domestic assault in the 9000 block of Meadowbrook Rd., in Bainbridge Township.

Troopers met with a 35-year-old woman who stated that her husband had threatened her with a firearm the evening prior and that he is heavily intoxicated and still has the firearm in his possession. The woman advised that her husband is at her residence and has her two children and mother in the residence. 

Troopers were also approached by the landlord of the residence and a friend of the family who just left the rental property and stated that the husband was drunk and pointed a rifle at him and his son. Troopers arrived at the residence and called the subject out of the residence over the loud speaker and the male surrender a short time later. 

The mother of the caller and the children were located in the residence unharmed a short time later.

The 40 yr old man is currently lodged in the Berrien County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a firearm & ammunition, Felonious assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Names are being withheld pending arraignment. 

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Berrien County Sheriffs Department and the Coloma Township Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
