ELBA TOWNSHIP, MI – On Monday August 3rd, 2020, at 9:28 AM, Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to a residence on Hadley Road in reference to a four year old child found unresponsive and not breathing after being pull from a residential pool.
After the child was removed from the pool and CPR started.
It was determined that the four year old boy from North Branch was visiting his grandparent’s house with his 28 year old mother and twin sibling. The child was last seen sleeping inside of the house around 8:30 AM that morning. The child woke up, went outside, opened an unlocked gate latch to access the swimming pool.
Friends visiting the home discovered the child in the pool around 9:28 AM. The Family friends removed the child from the pool and started CPR.
Lapeer County EMS Ambulance Service continued lifesaving efforts during transport to McLaren in Lapeer. Vitals were eventually regained and the child was transferred by helicopter to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. The child remains in serious condition with life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation supports that this incident was a tragic accident. The case does remains under investigation by Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies.
