Inappropriate Facebook Relationship Ends with CSC Charges

CRAWFORD COUNTY, MI. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was contacted on July 21st, 2020, by the grandmother of the victim. The granddaughter had told her grandmother she was having an inappropriate relationship with a man she had met on Facebook.

The man also persuaded the granddaughter to take the grandmother’s debit card and give it to him. The suspect made three withdraws from the grandmother’s account totaling close to $500.

The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old James Dominic Gross of Lincoln, was using an alias on Facebook. He was positively identified with the help of an MSP Forensic Analyst. The investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for James Gross. The MSP 7th District Fugitive was called to assist in locating and arresting Gross.

On Thursday, July 30, 2020 the MSP 7th District Fugitive Team located James Gross at an address on Higginson Court in Lincoln where he was arrested without incident.

James Gross was arraigned in the 46th District Court in Crawford County on three counts Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree with a Person Thirteen through Fifteen and three counts Using a Financial Transaction Device without Consent. He is currently lodged in the Crawford County Jail.
