DETROIT, MI – Matthew Lamar Williams-Brockman, 24-years-old and Devonte Dalvin Kenney, 22-years-old, both of Detroit, have been charged in the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old Detroit man.
On July 28, 2020 at approximately 1:46 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 16200 block of Cheyenne Street about a felonious assault in progress. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a bicycle at the end of a driveway. Investigation by the officers led them to the backyard of the residence where they found the lifeless body of the victim lying in the grass with an obvious gunshot wound. Medics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. It is alleged that Matthew Williams-Brockman and Devonte Kenny followed the victim in their vehicles and fatally shot him.
Further evidence will be placed on the record during the Preliminary Examination.
Matthew Williams-Brockman has been charged with Murder – First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Felony Firearm.
Devonte Kenney has been charged with Murder – First Degree, Assault With Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Felony Firearm.
Both suspects were arraigned on August 6th, 2020, before 36th District Court Magistrate Joseph Boyer. The Probable Cause Conferences are scheduled for August 13th, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examinations are scheduled for August 20th, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. All hearings are before Judge Roberta Archer in 36th District Court. Both defendants were remanded to jail.
