Detroit Funeral Director Charged with Fatally Shooting Relative

DETROIT, MI – While mourners were inside of the Clora Funeral Home attending at the funeral of their loved one, the Director of that establishment was outside having an argument with his cousin.

On August 10th, 2020, at approximately 10:42 a.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to the Clora Funeral Home in the 5800 block of East Seven Mile Road in response to a shots fired call.  Upon arrival, the officers located the lifeless body of a 58-year-old man in the rear parking lot.  The defendant was arrested at the scene.  It is alleged that an argument between the two men escalated and the defendant pulled a weapon, fatally shooting him.  The victim was his cousin.

Major Clora, Jr., 37-years-old, of Detroit, has been formally charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his 58-year-old cousin outside of the Clora Funeral Home.

Clora has been charged with Murder – Second Degree and Felony Firearm. He was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Joseph Boyer. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 20th, 2020, at 8:30 a.m., before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. He received a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
