14 yr old Accidentally Killed in Huron County when Man Harvesting Corn Drove over the Boy

CHANDLER TOWNSHIP, MI – This morning, Saturday September 12th, 2020, at 8:56am, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office and the Scheurer Ambulance Service responded to a cornfield on Limerick Road, between Farver and Maxwell Roads in Chandler Twp, which was the scene of a fatal accident.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 14 year old young man from Elkton had been dropped off earlier to deer hunt in the field. It is believed he may have fallen asleep once there.

A little while later, a 25-year-old man from Pigeon arrived to finish harvesting the field with a large Krone corn chopper. Unaware anyone was in the corn field, the 14-year-old hunter was accidentally driven over and found by the chopper operator a very short while later.

Unfortunately the victim did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office has ordered an autopsy to occur in the coming days.

No further information is available to be released at this time. Please check back for updates.
