Westland Man Charged in Dearborn Fatal Shooting

DEARBORN, MI – Brandon Michael Kournoian, 29-years-old, of Westland, has been charged in connection with the beating and fatal shooting of Keith Thomas, Monday, 26-years-old, of Dearborn.

On Sunday September 20th, 2020, at approximately 6:06 p.m., Dearborn Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2700 block of Holly Street in Dearborn in response to a 911 call.  Upon arrival, the officers located the victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.  Medics on the scene transported the victim to a hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

It is alleged that an argument between the defendant and the victim escalated into a physical altercation, before the victim was fatally shot. Investigation by Dearborn Police led to the apprehension of Kournoian. Facts and evidence about the incident will be placed on the record in
court at the Preliminary Examination.

Brandon Kournoian has been charged with Felony Murder, Home Invasion – First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Felony Firearm.

He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow morning, September 25th, 2020, before Judge Gene Hunt in 19th District Court in Dearborn.
