Suspects Arrested in Severed Fingers Case in Pontiac

Severed Fingers Suspects

PONTIAC, MI – A 38-year-old Pontiac man is recovering after a bizarre incident that took place where four of his fingers were severed from his hand.

On September 21st, 2020, at 11:17pm, an Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy was driving into the Pontiac Substation parking lot when they saw a SUV drive up onto the curb in front of the Waterford Regional Fire Department station across the street. A man fell out of the vehicle and a firetruck pulled up behind the SUV.

The man was covered with blood and was missing four fingers from his right hand. The firefighters indicated the SUV pulled up alongside of them while traveling on Douglas Street and waved them down where they then followed the subject to the fire station on Pike Street.

The victim, a 38-year-old man of Pontiac, reported he was outside of an apartment located in the 100 block of Mechanic Street to meet up with a woman and her boyfriend. After interviewing the woman, it was stated she and her boyfriend had planned on buying drugs from the victim.

The woman and her boyfriend stated that once inside her apartment, where the alleged drug transaction was taking place, there was a knock at the door and the suspect was let in. Once inside, the suspect began to assault the victim with a large crescent wrench which led to the victim having four of his fingers severed on his right hand. The victim claimed the woman and her boyfriend also assaulted him and he believes he was set-up by these three individuals.

It is believed this was possible retaliation as the main suspect had been shot the day prior to this incident and the victim may have been the one responsible for the shooting. Firefighters rendered aid to the bloody victim on scene and then they transported him to McLaren Oakland Hospital for treatment.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was later transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Three of the victim’s fingers were found in the apartment where the incident took place. The fourth finger was reported to have been in the woman’s purse, but then had been thrown into a grassy area when they fled the area. The fourth finger was located near the apartment complex in a field. A blood covered knife was discovered as well, which was more consistent with the victim’s injuries. The alleged crescent wrench was not located. Only one of the four fingers, which were severed, were able to be reattached.

All three suspects involved have been arrested and are lodged at the Oakland County Jail. The Oakland County Prosecutor issued the following charges:
