DEARBORN, MI – A Dearborn woman is in critical condition after she was viciously attacked by her boyfriend with a knife. She had been stabbed in the head, face and neck. He was shot and killed by a Dearborn Police Officer.
At 6:22 AM on Sunday September 27th, 2020, a 39-yr old woman was assaulted by her boyfriend with knife. Multiple calls were made to 911. Once officers arrived on scene they forced the door of an apartment to gain entry.
Once inside of a very cluttered apartment they were able to get the suspect off of the victim and pull her to safety after he was shot multiple times. The suspect was shot and killed by a 15-year veteran of the Dearborn Police Department.
Earlier in the evening calls had been made to 911 from residents of the apartment building about the suspect. Those residents felt that they were being threatened by the suspect in a hallway. Dearborn Police did go to the apartment building and did try to locate the suspect at that time but were unsuccessful.
The suspect was wanted for multiple felonies including being a parole absconder.
Dearborn Police Chief Haddad stated that there have been multiple calls for domestic violence at the apartment building in recent weeks.
Michigan State Police have taken over the investigation. The Second District Investigation Section was contacted by Dearborn Police Department to handle a investigation involving one of their officers.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the Dearborn Police were dispatched to the 22000 block of Park in the city of Dearborn for a break in an apartment in the building. The victim, a 39 year old woman, was reporting to 911 she was being stabbed.
When officers entered the apartment the suspect, a 41 year old man, was stabbing the victim. Officers used fatal force to protect the victim. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Members of the MSP Forensic Lab are processing the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for multiple stab wounds. She is in stable but serious condition. Investigation continues.
