HILLMAN, MI – On July 29th, 2020, the Michigan State Police 7th District Fugitive Team requested the public’s help in locating Steve Mark Casbier, 33-years-old, of Hillman.
Steven Casebier was wanted for larceny, fleeing and eluding, and assaulting a police officer. He was believed to be in the northeast Michigan area because he would frequent the Alpena and Hillman areas.
Because a felony warrant had been issued for Casebier, anyone who assisted him in his attempts to avoid arrest would be charged with assisting/harboring a known felony fugitive.
The MSP Fugitve Team had been out to his mothers residence on Pleasant Valley Road in Hillman searching for Casebier in early August. The team informed his mother, 55-year-old Elizabeth Marie Slater, that her son was a fugitive and the consequences she would face for harboring him.
On September 10th, 2020, Steven Casebier was arrested while hiding in his mothers home. Elizabeth Slater was arrested for harboring a fugitive. She was arraigned on September 25th, 2020, in the 88th District Court in Montmorency County on one count of Harboring a Felon. She was release on a $3,000 10% cash bond.
Steven Casebier was arraigned on his original charges in 88rth District Court in Alpena County.
