SHEPHERD, MI – On Saturday October 2nd, 2020, at 8:33 p.m., troopers from the Mount Pleasant Post were dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Shepherd Road at US127 in Coe Township, Isabella County.
The investigation revealed that a 20-year-old St. Louis man, identified as Vicente Marcello Oliva, was driving a passenger car northbound on the Shepherd Road overpass at US127. Witnesses stated the driver was driving erratically and at high speeds. Vicente Oliva was found dead upon trooper’s arrival.
The vehicle had caught fire as a result of the crash and was extinguished by responding police. There were no other occupants in this vehicle.
The second vehicle involved was a full-size pick-up truck. This vehicle was driven by a 22-year-old St. Louis man. This vehicle was southbound at the time of the collision. The driver sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene. There were no other occupants in this vehicle.
Traffic was blocked on Shepherd Road both northbound and southbound for the duration of the incident. The crash is still under investigation.
Troopers were assisted on scene, by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department, Central Michigan University Police Department, the Shepherd Township Fire Department, Flight Care, and MMR EMS.
