CLARE, MI – In February of 2020, the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post was requested to assist with an investigation involving the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. The suspect was identified as a 49-year- old Houghton Lake man.
The assault reportedly took place in Clare County. Further investigation revealed multiple other attempts to commit sexual assaults against other young boys within Michigan and evidence the man possessed and manufactured child pornography. The Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post conducted the investigation and identified an additional victim.
On October 1st, 2020, a Houghton Lake man was charged with four felony counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity_Aggrivated, four felony counts of Computers-Internet–Communicating with another to Commit Crime, and Habitual Offender – Second Offence Notice.
The case is being prosecuted by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. The MSP Mt. Pleasant Post was assisted by the Clare Police Department, the MSP Houghton Lake Post, the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, and the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department.
