DETROIT, MI – On Monday, October 5th, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., in the area of Joy Rd. and Artesian, a 33-year old woman was driving with four children, ages 2, 3, 6, and 7, in a white GMC Yukon eastbound on Joy Rd., when she struck a black GMC Yukon, driven by a 33-year old man, going northbound on Artesian, causing a rollover accident. 

One of the children, a 6-year-old boy and passenger in the white Yukon was ejected from the vehicle and fatally injured. He was pronounced deceased by medics.

The other occupants of the vehicle, along with the driver of the black Yukon, were transported by medics to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All are expected to recover. The female driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment and taken into custody.
