On Wednesday October 7th, 2020, at approximately 2:00am, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 200 block of Clinton River Dr. for shots fired.
The caller reported hearing multiple gunshots outside of her home. Deputies canvased the area and were unable to locate anyone. A short time later, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a second call to the 200 block of Clinton River Dr. The caller reported earlier gun shots had woke her up. After checking her home, she located what was believed to be a bullet hole in the exterior of her home that went through to the inside of her bedroom.
Macomb County evidence technicians located five 9mm spent casings outside of her home and a spent round lying underneath the homeowner’s bed where she stated she had been sleeping. The caller was not injured.
Investigators began to canvas the area and located a surveillance camera at a nearby home. The surveillance camera shows what appears to be a newer white Jeep Cherokee drive by the home that was struck at approximately 2:00am. The Jeep stops and then shifts back into drive just before passing the victim’s home.
There appears to be a muzzle flash from the driver side of the vehicle and then it proceeds forward on Clinton River Dr. A canvas of the area was completed by deputies and investigators. Upon further investigation, investigators were able to develop a person of interest.
An anonymous source stated a man who lives in the area has been having issues with a woman who drives a vehicle matching that observed in the surveillance video. This suspect, a 29 year old woman, out of Clinton Township, has both a white Jeep Cherokee and a 9mm handgun registered to her.
Investigators located the suspect and took her into custody without incident. Search Warrants were obtained for both the Jeep Cherokee and the suspect’s residence. A 9mm casing was located on exterior of the windshield near the wipers and a 9mm handgun was located within the residence. The suspect does not have a valid CPL license.
The suspect is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail with no bond. This report was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office once the investigation is complete.
