PONTIAC, MI – A 17-year-old male suspect was arrested today, Saturday October 10th, 2020, at his home in Genoa Township in Livingston County with the assistance of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office during the execution of a search warrant obtained by Oakland County Sheriff’s Detectives.
At about 8:27 PM, on Friday October 9th, 2020, Oakland County Sheriff Deputies, Star EMS and the Waterford Township Regional Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Thorpe Street on the report of a man who was laying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head.
The 18-year-old man, Christopher Grant Alexander, of Pontiac, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A large group had gathered at the scene and they were dispersed without incident.
The homicide occurred during a drug transaction for the purchase of less than one ounce of marijuana between Christopher Grant Alexander and the suspects.
The suspect resides at the Genoa Township home and was a rear seat passenger in the car who fired one shot from a semi-auto handgun striking the victim in the head.
The 19-year-old male driver and the 17-year-old female front seat passenger are residents of Brighton were taken to the Pontiac Substation for questioning and were released pending further investigation.
The gun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered by Detectives. The small amount of suspected marijuana was recovered by Detectives in an abandoned car in the backyard of a home on Thorpe.
Charges and arraignment are not expected until late Monday or early Tuesday after a review by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
