PONTIAC, MI – On Sunday October 11, 2020, OAkland County Sheriff Deputies, the Waterford Regional Fire Department and Star EMS  responded to the 100 block of Dwight Street for a report of a man lying in the middle of the street.

At 1:47AM the caller reported he was walking to a friend’s house when he noticed a man lying in the middle of street. The 36-year-old victim, of Pontiac, was face down, not moving, and he appeared to be holding his head. There was a large pool of blood around his body.

Deputies and Star EMS arrived on scene. The victim was found lying in the street with a single spent shell casing located near his feet. A fragment from the slug was located near the victim’s head. Star EMS provided telemetry to a Physician from McLaren Oakland Hospital who pronounced the victim deceased. 

Deputies canvassed the area without results. A K9 Unit began a track. It was without results. Detectives, the Forensics Science Laboratory and an Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on scene and began their investigations. The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased. An autopsy has been scheduled.  

Detectives developed some leads and took a 22-year-old Pontiac man, who was an acquaintance of the victim, into custody around 3:30 AM this morning for the homicide.  He and the victim were walking together when the suspect fired a handgun at the victim for yet unknown reasons.
