PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff Deputies, the Waterford Regional Fire Department and Star EMS responded to the 20 block of Cadillac Street on the report of a one-month old male infant who was not breathing.

Medical personnel administered life saving measures. The infant was transported to Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital via Star EMS where he was pronounced deceased.

The father reported that he left the child lying on a bed after feeding him some formula.  When he left the room the baby was laying on his back and sleeping. He returned approximately ten minutes later after doing some dishes and making up some more formula and he found the baby face down and not breathing. The mother was notified and responded to the hospital. Treating doctors advised the baby had aspirated some formula.

Aspiration occurs when something enters the airway or lungs by accident.

Detectives and an Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on scene and began their investigations. An Evidence Technician responded and processed the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy.
