Photos Released of Suspect who Fired Shots at Detroit Police on City’s East side

DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection to a shots fired at officers on the city’s east side. 

Preliminary, on Friday, October 16, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m., 9th precinct special operations officers responded to the area of Kennebec Street & Gunston Street on police run for a felonious assault in progress. Officers spoke to the complainant who alleged that a suspect fired multiple shots at his vehicle. While officers were talking to the complainant, the suspect road pass in Black Chrysler 300. The complainant then alerted the officers to the occupants in the car.

The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. As the vehicle was slowing down in the area of E. McNichols and Strasburg, the passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot and the driver continued going. The officers pursued the passenger on foot. At some point, this suspect fired multiple shots at the officers, of which none took effect, then continued running. The officers did not return fire. A K-9 search was conducted for the suspect, however he was not located. The vehicle was later located and recovered unoccupied in the 6000 block of Farmbrook St.

Detroit Police needs assistance in locating this Suspect as well as the driver of the vehicle. (The driver’s description is unknown at this time.)

The suspect is described as a black male 5’9” slim build, with short dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and armed.
