4 Detroit Metro Area Residents Arrested in Ohio on Counterfeit Check Charges

TOLEDO, OH – Four individuals from the Detroit metro area were arrested in Toledo on Thursday for their involvement in allegedly trying to cash counterfeit checks.

Brittany Brantley, 26-years-old, of Westland, Mica Jenkins, 28-years-old, Christopher Dunbar, 24-years-old, and Achieng Dobbs, 47-years-old, all of Detroit, are charged with counterfeiting, a fourth-degree felony. 

Achieng Dobbs is also being charged with forgery, a fifth-degree felony. Dobbs admitted to possessing and supplying his co-defendants with the counterfeit checks.

On Thursday, October 22nd, 2020, the four suspects possessed counterfeit payroll checks. They had intended on cashing them at carryouts in the Toledo area. Their undoing was at the Meijer store located at 1500 E. Alexis Rd. when they attempted to cash one of the checks there.

The four were lodged in the Lucas County Jail Friday morning before being released on supervised recognizance bonds. A preliminary hearing is set before a Toledo Municipal Court judge on November 17th, 2020.
