One Person Killed in Roll-over Crash in Allegan County

WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – On Sunday October 25th, 2020, at approximately 1:00AM, Allegan County Sheriff’s officers responded to the area of 129th Ave. and 12th St. in Wayland Township in reference to a roll over vehicle crash.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers located two male subjects believed to be in their mid 20’s ejected from a single vehicle.  One male subject was conscious but not alert, the other was unconscious not alert and was having difficulty breathing.  Emergency responders immediately began CPR.  That individual, who is believed to be the driver of the vehicle, eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound on 12th St., failed to yield at the stop sign located on 12th St. and 129th Ave.  The vehicle continued through the intersection northbound driving through a guardrail and became airborne coming to rest in a field. 

The passenger was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.  The scene is being investigated by Allegan County accident reconstruction. 

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office on scene was Hopkins Fire, Wayland Area EMS, Plainwell Area EMS, Gun Lake Tribal Police, and MSP.  

The name of the deceased is being withheld until family notification.  It’s believed both subjects involved reside in the Grand Rapids area.
